I can remember when I was around 12 or 13 I was visiting a friend and we were outside in her neighborhood where there were several families out doing yard work, washing cars, etc......All of sudden we all heard this blood curdling scream....and we all looked to see one of the neighbors standing at the top of her drive way where she proceeded to yell very loudly...for all to hear...."CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!" Okay, at this point the whole neighborhood was cracking up...my self included.....I knew it was funny, but I did not really understand what would cause a perfectly sane woman (at least I think she was sane) to make such a scene. Now I have kids....now I understand this.....now I want Calgon to take me away!! I've tried it, Calgon I mean, it's nothing really special.....and the only place it took me was into a tub that was too small for my body and back out again to be the mom.......It did smell good though.

Shiny feet

Conversation in the car the other day

Zack: Mom, I forgot to tell you about the other night when you were at enrichment....Joe came downstairs and said "look at my shiny foot"....so I looked and he was wearing a condom on his foot!!
Joe: It wasn't for my foot, mom.....it's for dad's penis!
Me: Who told him that?????
Zack: I did. You and dad are always honest with us so I told him the truth.
Me: Yes but we are honest with you after we have had the sex talk with you.

I can only hope and pray that Joe doesn't share this bit of info with anyone besides us. Joe knows so much more than my older kids did at this age.......*sigh*

Sunday Sunday

The day started off with a start...we all slept in til 9am...which would be nice on a Saturday maybe but not on a Sunday. We were all running around getting ready for church. We have 11am church but have to be in the car by 10.30 to get there on time. This is something we are not used to. We managed it though and actually made it into the chapel by 5 minutes to 11. Aaron stayed with us for Sacrament meeting but then headed to work. He's been gone all week on a business trip. It's so nice to have him home. We even got to go on a date last night. We saw "The Bucket List". We liked it so much.....Aaron even cried a little...he denied it but I saw him! It's a quiet little movie with some humor but mostly just something to think about. Anyway, I got a calling today!! I'm the new Enrichment leader. I'm excited for this because I've never done it before. I really like Trio...the enrichment counselor in the RS Presidency. She's so nice and so sweet.
All in all it's been a pretty good day today. I will just have to try and forget what a monster Joe was in Primary....I subbed for his class today.....I'm so glad I didn't get called to be his teacher...is that a sin?
Tonight I found out our dear sweet Prophet President Gordon B Hinckley passed away. What a sad day for all of us left here but what a happy day for him. He will be so missed.
Well...off I go to get some sleep. I think I'll read a little too...I'm reading "The Princess Academy" by Shannon Hale...it's really good so far. I just finished Austenland by the same author and liked it a lot.

I have an anger problem. I know it's a problem because I see my kids acting the way I do. I know I need to do something about this but I'm not sure where to turn or what to do. I know I need to pray and ask Heavenly Father for help and I've done this many times but I know I need to be willing to find ways to help myself. I just want peace in my family. It seems the anger is a viscous circle. Perhaps there is a good book out there to help me, perhaps counseling is the answer. All I know is that something must be done now. I can't go on like this, my family can't go on like this. We have so much fun sometimes but many times it's just very unhappy around here. It makes me sad that I've let my upbringing dictate what kind of mother I am. I will have to continue to work on this....life is sure hard sometimes...maybe most of the time.

Before we moved we told the kids that if we could have a dog in our new house, we'd get one. Well, we can have a dog so we've been looking at the humane society and just haven't found one. So last Friday we went to Omaha to look there. We didn't find one. We got a paper and found a kennel. We decided to go look for fun. We played with several dogs and we all fell in love with Molly. She's a beagle. Her birthday is October 11th and she's just the sweetest little girl. She loves to snuggled and she also loves to play. She is a puppy and the potty training can be taxing but she's learned fairly quick. She also loves to chew and hopefully this will help us to keep things picked up. Joe and Hannah are doing so well with her. Joe will play with her and Hannah loves to join in. I keep thinking back and remembering that at one point Zoe outgrew all the puppy stuff and became a really good dog. I think Molly will be the same. She's so even tempered so far. I just love her.

Last Monday for family night we played games. First we played a game called "I can do that" it's a Dr Seuss game that Joe got for Christmas. It was a cute one and the kids had fun with it. Then we turned a movie on for the little kids and Zack, Josh, Megan and I played a game called Loaded Questions. In this game you answer questions on your own piece of paper and then take turns listening to all the answers and trying to guess who said what. Well one of the questions was "What will your last words be before you die". Zack said that my last words would be "I think I left my flat iron on" and boy did everyone get a big kick out of that, we all laughed and laughed. I love when we have those fun family moments. My biggest hope is for my kids to grow up and remember that we did have fun.
