absurdity in it's finest form

The other night I was in the kitchen doing the dishes by hand...because we do not have a dishwasher. I stupidly made a deal with my children...whoever has the kitchen for the week does not have to do the dishes when they have a school day....why I made this deal? I LOVE doing dishes...LOL! (Please try and picture how many dishes a house full of 6 kids and two adults produces) Nope...I'm a pushover that's the real reason. Anyway...that really doesn't have much to do with what I'm getting at here...I just wanted to say...I was working...I was doing the dishes. Josh was playing on the Wii. I asked him to go down and change the laundry out. He came up with an arm full of clothes and asked me what to do with them. When, so naively, I suggested he fold/hang and put them away, I was informed that he just had to put all the clothes from the washer into the dryer and there were many socks so it took him so long to do it....and he couldn't possibly find the time or the energy to do anymore. Oh, my!! That poor poor boy...he's just so over worked....

**just a side note. Josh does his own laundry...the clothes in the dryer were not his...I just wanted him to help out.

Ooooooo, sore subject here. My best advice is this: give up and do it all yourself, or stop doing all of it all together. When they run out of clean clothes, dishes to eat off of, somewhere to sit they will catch on. it's a tough love situation, but you have to do it, or you'll have to do it. Good luck.

I would start pulling his clothes out and making him do his own laundry, cause you can't possibly find the time to do his laundry with all of the stuff that you have to do. I too believe in the tough love, but may change my mind as my kids get older.

I know the feeling with complaining kids that they have to lift a finger some days. 6 months ago I told Marissa she was now in charge of her laundry. She didn't make a peep! I was surprised. It's a good learning experience for them to do their own laundry and then they won't have an excuse once they are on their own that they don't know how to do it!!! LOL!

I'm sitting here, on the couch, at 11:00 on a Sunday night, watching Nik try to finish his laundry. He and Kowhai have to do their own laundry and it's .... interesting. Let's just say, this weekend we had to buy "Goof Off" to clean the inside of the dryer due to the fact that a black ink pen was put through the wash. This of course delayed everything, the windows were all opened and I am left with a major head buzz. Of course, I refuss to do any of the clean up and if they thought I'd go into panic mode and finish their laundry for them they have another thing coming!! I have no problem going to bed and leaving him up to finish, and he's got early morning seminary too!
