3 little birds and a whole lot of guilt

Late last night I came home with Aaron from a wedding and reception. I worked earlier in the day and also went visiting teaching in the afternoon. I had not seen Hannah the whole day long (she was napping when I came home to get ready for the wedding.) Hannah wears a sleep mask when she sleeps...no kidding! She calls it her "sleeping thingy".....she wears it all night long. Anyway, when I came home I went in her room and stood on Megan's bed to get to her (she sleeps on the top bunk) and I kissed her cheek and she said "good night, Megan."....I said "it's not Megan...it's mommy"...she yanked up her sleeping thingy..opened her eyes and said "MOMMY!" and gave me a giant hug. Then she pulled the mask back down over her eyes and promptly fell back to sleep. That's when Megan told me the story of the birds. Apparently, earlier yesterday, Hannah saw three birds flying in the air and pointed up to them and said "look Megan....three baby birds! They are looking for their mommy....but they won't find her because she's at work." OUCH!...my heart hurts.

oh, that is so sad. Kids are so sensitive and so perceptive.

Oh I am sorry.....my kids have made some sort of comment like "mom has to work again." or something like that....it does hurt. I am sure they relish the time you ARE home, so take it all in!!!!!!
