Do You Ever Wonder....

What it would be like to have lived a different life? I mean, like in a completely different time. I remember watching Little House on the Prairie when I was young and thinking that would of been the perfect time to be alive. I should of been born in those days where things were more simple....no tv, no computers, hard work, homemade everything, families being together. I know it would of been hard...but imagine the feeling of accomplishment. I think of the pioneers and how hard they worked to make their journey. I can't imagine the heartache they went through losing so many loved ones.....would it of been better to live through that than the stresses of today? Sometimes I think of these things....what do you think? Do you have a favorite time period in history that you would like to have experienced?

I used to want to live in the 'Gone with the Wind' time, but only because I wanted to wear those big dresses. I actually wouldn't want to live at another time. I'd love the simpler life of the pioneers or even in the earlier 1900's, but I'd miss the technology we have now.

I love old things. I love old styles, books, buildings...I have been known to say I was born in the wrong era. I've thought a lot about this. I've come to the conclusion that perspective is everything. Just like we say now a days, "The grass is always greener on the other side." Look at the progess we've made:

Medicine - even with terminal diseases we can relieve the suffering.

Women's rights - my favorte era was back in the Jane Austin era. Fathers could rarely even leave possesions to their daughters, the law wouldn't allow it.

Racial Equality - we've not perfected this one yet, but I'd be screwed if I went back 150 years.

Flushing toilets - Ever used an outhouse?

Maturation - Anyone care to walk around "on the rag"? Although the red tent idea sounds awesome!

Ya, so I'm still going to enjoy looking back at the ideal, the best foot forward from the past and enjoy it for what it is. A perception of the past. It's still fun.

Meanwhile, I'll make the most of my present and try to see the glass half full. I can't wait to meet Charlotte Bronte. That was a tough life that influenced her writing well.

Thanks for the thought thread...I would love to sit and chat about it. Love it!
