We don't have cable. We do have Netflix and we recently signed up to try Huluplus. I like Netflix because of the whole no commercial thing and being able to watch episodes of my favorite shows anytime I want to (which is usually late at night before I go to work and after kids are in bed). But, Netflix doesn't have recent episodes and some of the movie choices are pretty lame. So, now we have Huluplus. I don't like the commercials and it seems that it has a hard time loading sometimes...maybe our internet isn't fast enough? But I have discovered some fun shows...some of my favs are (some are on netflix and some are on hulu and some are on both). I LOVE to watch Bones, Grimm, Warehouse 13, Once Upon a Time, The Office, and Modern Family. I also LOVE Downton Abbey....I like watching the real forensic type documentaries. I think if I could go back in time I might like to go into forensic type work of some kind...it's truly fascinating to me. Anyway, I love being able to stream in what I want to watch, when I want to watch it. I can't even tell you the last time I watched the news...I have an app for that :-) What would we do without technology? I may have to watch Revolution to find out.
What are some of your favorites shows? (If anyone still reads my blog :)

I'm still reading!
I haven't discovered the joy of Netflix or Hulu yet. My kids have, I'm just not sure I want to awaken the beast. But I do get tired of missing fun shows.
I have seen one season of Downton Abbey, it was fun. Kowhai and I watch Once Upon a Time together, we like that one. The Office is a family favorite, we thought the season premier was funny! I haven't seen Mondern Family (I know, I'm lame), Bones, Grimm or Warehouse 13 (haven't even heard of that one).
We also like to watch SYTYCD, The Voice, America's got talent and those kind of shows. Biggest Looser motivates me, but I don't like it when they have really mean people on the show. I too like the forensic type shows, but I don't get a chance to watch those much. No one else in the house likes to watch them.
I still read, too!
I'm with you on the forensic stuff, so interesting!!!
We're a netflix/huluplus family here, too, and haven't even missed regular TV. We even streamed general conference!
Some shows I've enjoyed are Dollhouse, Jericho, 24, Battlestar Galactica and Bones. I know there are others but I can't think of them right now. I just started Breaking Bad, we'll see how it goes!
Yep, I read. It's nice to know what my long-lost cousin is up to, and your "conversations" are often like an episode of "Kid's Say" but funnier.
I think most of the current broadcast network shows stream from the network site 24 hours to a week behind airdate. There's ads, but only the national sponsors.
There are a few sites where people upload their DVD collections. You can watch free and ad free, or if you have the Download Helper browser extension, you can download most anything, also free. I usually cue up an entire season or so and let it download while I go do something productive, then archive the lot to a DVD, either as data or as a disc that will play in the DVD player.
I'm with you on the forensics. Also, Revolution looks promising; hopefully won't be canceled for budget concerns like Terra Nova and Alien Nation.
I still read!!!
I don't watch very much of anything right now. The only things that I watch regularly are Once Upon A Time, The Middle, Modern Family and America's Funniest Home Videos.
And I am currently not up to date on even those.
I do love Merlin from BBC. I've been getting that on DVD from the library. I'm only on season four, which isn't out on DVD yet (boo!).
Also, I love Keeping Up Appearances, Road to Avonlea, The Anne of Green Gables series, BBC's newest version of Emma and Father Ted! I could watch ANY of those pretty much any time!
Stuff I'd LIKE to watch someday:
Downtown Abbey
Doctor Who
We aren't subscribers to Netflix anymore, and no Huluplus. Only regular Hulu.
Hi mom!
I love brothers and sisters, greys anatomy, 30 rock, and many others! I think you would love brothers and sisters!
Love, Z
